Nordic Wittgenstein Society (NWS)

The Nordic Wittgenstein Society's purpose is to function as a forum for Nordic Wittgenstein research after the funding period of the NNWR has ended. The main activity of the Society will be to arrange an annual conference. The Society is open for all individuals who support its aims, regardless of nationality.
The Society's constitutive meeting will be held in Turku/Åbo on March 28th, 2009 (see below). The coordinating group of the NNWR functions as an interim board for the Society, and has produced a proposal for statutes, which will be subjected for approval at the meeting. The Society's board and chairman will also be elected at the meeting. Any questions concerning the Society can in the meantime be addressed to the chair of the interim board.
The purposes of the Society are:
to promote research related to Ludwig Wittgenstein's philosophy and different problems and areas of philosophy inspired by his thought
to provide a forum for Nordic research groups and individuals interested in this research area
to strengthen and coordinate Nordic cooperation in this area
to increase the visibility of Nordic research in the field
The Society promotes these objectives by
organizing conferences, courses and other meetings with relevant themes
initiating Nordic and international research and cooperation projects
promoting research and dissemination in the field in other ways
